About Us
You'll usually see both of us around the Flying W Guest Ranch. Dad particularly likes to show folks through the Museum and the General Store. He certainly knows a lot about it. Flying W Guest Ranch consists of 2,300 acres owned by the Whinery family. It is indeed a working ranch, with cattle, Texas Longhorns, horses, and buffalo...along with our Frontier Town, Museum, General Store, Trail and Wagon Rides, Sassy's Cafe, the archeological dig of an extensive 2,300 year old Buffalo Kill Site, and much more. We've been involved in many business enterprises, including the mortuary business-which is perhaps why we've accummulated our unique collection of antique and western hearses in our special Western Museum. You'll also see a lot of interesting buggies, carriages, wagons, and a wide variety of automobiles and other vehicles. Don Whinery has served as president of Oklahoma City West. He has also served on the board of directors of the Oklahoma City Chamber of Commerce and the board of trustees for Youth Leadership Exchange, and the Oklahoma City Art Museum. He is currently on the board of directors of the Cowboy Hall of Fame in Oklahoma City. Don is a graduate of the University of Central Oklahoma and Dale Carnegie. |
